Will you survive???

The years is 2018, date 27th October… are in the middle of a Zombie Invasion and all you are armed with are your wits, yip no weapons…..what do you do????

A 6KM mud run teeming with zombies infected with the living dead virus. The race is complete with army boot camp like obstacles that will test your strength and endurance. You will come into contact with natural and manmade obstacles. Like all mud runs you will need to climb walls and crawl in mud. To add an extra degree of challenge (and fun) we have added zombies.

Its back story is based on a post-apocalyptic time where zombies inhabit the earth and humans must work together to save the human race. You may sign up as a human or zombie. The humans run the race with a football flag belt. These flags represent your vital organs, your Brain, Heart and Entrails. The zombies are stationed along the race course trying to eat your vital organs (capture your flags). If you finish the race with one or more of your flags, you survive. If the zombies capture all your flags, you are infected with the living dead virus and die (well at least do not complete the race).

The Afterdark Invasion zombie based run is designed to challenge you physically , but in a fun way. Don’t let the zombie angle fool you. This is a real night obstacle race (just with a twist).

Will You Survive a Zombie Invasion???

USA’s Dave Mazany challenges champion Martin van Staden and 10 more action packed bouts are set to go down live from GrandWest, Cape Town.

Cape Town, South Africa – On Saturday 11 August, the former champion, Dave Mazany returns from Las Vegas determined to reclaim what was once his. The ‘Pain Train’ is on a collision course with the reigning lightweight titleholder, Martin ‘The Punisher’ van Staden. This bout headlines an action-packed EFC 72 fight card.

The man who is revered as one of the most dangerous strikers in the organisation, realised his destiny and captured the EFC title in a back-and-forth war against England’s Gavin Hughes. Van Staden started his legacy in the MMA world in enigmatic fashion, he built-up a meteoric record of spectacular performances, but now, in a fight against the former champion, it is his time to solidify it.

Mazany, who has travelled and fought all around the globe, made his first appearance in the EFC Hexagon at EFC 05 in 2010. Defeating then champion and stamping his authority on the division. Upon his return, Mazany tore through opposition, claiming and ultimately losing the EFC lightweight strap in the process.

He rebounded with a knockout of another teammate of Van Staden, Themba Gorimbo, and most recently defeated the highly acclaimed Chris Bright. The ‘Pain Train’ is officially back and on the hunt to reclaim EFC gold!

Added to this massive title fight, the card sees former light heavyweight champ, Gideon Drotschie, making his long-awaited drop to middleweight to face former TF1 contestant, England’s Jenaid Ebanks. In the midst of career resurgence and in a new division, Drotschie will be out to make a statement against his formidable foreign opponent.

Two of the most exciting athletes to have ever featured inside the Hexagon will go head-to-head. Cape Town favourite Faeez Jacobs takes-on the electrifying Tumisang Madiba. Fans can expect all out action when these two EFC stars collide.

The women’s flyweight clash between two accurate and devastating strikers sees Shana Power and Cape Town boxing star Paulwethu Namba battle it out. And in the opening fight of the live broadcast a grudge-match is set to go down as former teammates, Luke Michael and Armand Scheepers collide. Having trained together for years, they have a deep understanding of each other’s strengths and weaknesses and will exploit them at any cost in search of victory.

In addition to the exciting main card, seven action packed prelim bouts including the likes of August Kayambala vs Nerick Simoes, Justin Smith vs Giovanni Pretorius, Duane Jones vs Anthony Mailer, Saxon Delafield vs Hermie Drotschie and Willem Smith vs Matunga Djikasa are set to kick-off a fierce fight night.

EFC 72 Van Staden vs Mazany is presented by and takes place on Saturday 11 August live from GrandWest, Cape Town. Tickets are on sale at, and the 5 main card bouts will be broadcast live on Kwesé Free Sports 1 (Kenya & Rwanda), Kwese TV (Sub-Saharan Africa), live in South Africa on SABC 3 and FIGHT SPORTS (where available) starting and at 21:30 CAT/19:30 GMT. And then there were four…

Four teams left…we could call them the fantastic four as they played their way through the best teams who qualified for this years soccer World Cup to reach this point, a win here and they are one game away from being crowned 2018 World Champions.

First up were neighbours France vs Belgium, both teams were unbeaten on their road to the semi-finals. They are so close they even share previous legends of the beautiful game. Thierry Henry the French superstar is on the coaching team of Belgium, I thought he might be the trump card for the Red Devils.

It seemed like it was going to be Hazard running the show, there were some interesting midfield match-ups to be seen. Fellaini having to hold off his United Teammate Pogba, I think he did a good job. I really wanted the Belgians to win but it was one of those games where one goal is all it takes…..Umtiti, who signed a new 5-year deal with Barcelona scored and his celebratory jiggle was something to make Mick Jagger proud…..we could say he has got the moves like Jagger. Young French sensation Kylian Mbappé also showing off his skills frustrating the opponents, the World Cup always produces new superstars to be talked about for years to come.

Impossible n’est pas français – The literal meaning Impossible is not French….this is how the French team played never giving up showing that nothing is impossible. Can this French team emulate the 1998 team – 20 years later.

Coach Didier Deschamps could become a player coach after he lifted the World Cup trophy when he captained the 98 team in their triumph.

France 1 – 0 Belgium

In the other match it was England vs Croatia…..the English Fans were already screaming It’s coming home all over social media, I also thought this might finally be their year with a young team unbeaten in qualification and a good road to the semi-final…some would say rather easy compared to Croatia.

The first half was open flowing football, Trippier opening the scoring in the 5th minute, a stunning free-kick leaving the Croatian goalkeeper standing watching the ball like he on a shroom trip…but Croatia always looked likely for a comeback.

Their comeback came in the form of an Ivan Perišić goal in the 67th minute and from there onwards it was all downhill for England, Croatia were hungry and eager to win. The English goalkeeper Pickford was the busier of the two keepers on the night.

The game went into extra-time, it would be the third time for Croatia in this years World Cup and lucky for them they managed to avoid the lottery of penalties when Mandžukić, Juventus player, broke the English hearts and Southgate’s chance of becoming a Sir. Juventus might just have a World Cup winner in their team next season and………Ronaldo.

Croatia 2 – 1 England

I suck at World Cup predictions but I think the best teams are in the finals……1998 Winners (France) and Third placed (Croatia)

Which team will better the Class of 98′????

Live it up

After a month of football(soccer) across Russia it finally came to a breath-taking conclusion last night at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow..

The final World Cup final was contested between France and Croatia. The French team last won the World Cup 20 years ago on home soil and this was the coaches opportunity to have his name in the record books to win it as coach and player so the pressure was on them as favourites.

Croatia started their World Cup journey in 1998 where they came third….20 years later and they could become World Champions, they have however become the Peoples favourites already.

On Saturday Belgium met England for the second time at this years World Cup after beating them in the group stages, this time was however for a chance to win a 3rd place medal…..unfortunately for England all that is coming home a a team that came fourth at the 2018 World Cup as they were beaten 2-0.

Belgium 2-0 England

Belgium 3rd placed winners.

One life, one dream
One moment, one team
One you, lights high
Thousand road blocks, one shot
One truth, no fears
One flag, oh yeah

We’ve been waiting for this all year
Where y’all at? We right here!

63 matches completed…..the only one that really matters is the last game….the one that when you win you are crowned Champions….match no. 64.

The game had everything, an own goal, penalty, VAR decision and some beautiful goals by both teams…..oh and a crazy moment by the French goalkeeper hmmmm feels like I am missing something……oh yes there were fans that breached security to run on the field too.

It was the French who got the upper hand and showed their dominance over Croatia scoring 4 goals on the night…..the Croatians fought hard till the end for a comeback but it was too late.

5 years ago Manchester United Fan, Usain Bolt smashed a 100m record at the Luzhniki Stadium….

10 years ago Manchester United won a Champion league final against Chelsea in Moscow and…

Last night Manchester United Midfielder Paul Pogba helped France lift the World Cup for the second time (I am a United Fan too if it not obvious yet).

Only one life to live, got so much to give
Fighting for the nation now, that is my gift
Run like a champion and win like a king
That’s my only goal, my everything
Live it up now, now

I am sure The French will be living it up for a while – CONGRATULATIONS!!

France 4 -2 Croatia

World(Euro) Cup

Almost time to crown the Football champs, the quarter-finals are over….and we know the cup will be going to Europe.

The French team knocked out Uruguay…..after winning the World Cup 20 years ago in France 1998 they look hungry to repeat that epic feat.

France 2 – 0 Uruguay

A game I was looking forward to was the Belgium vs Brazil, I wanted Belgium to win. They have a really good team on paper and during this World Cup I think they have proved their worth even after the scare from the Japanese. The Goalkeeper reminded me of the German goalkeeping legend….I think you guys know who I’m talking about. The flags are similar and both countries have good beer hmmmm interesting. The 5 times champions were sent packing after going down 2-0 to the Belgians…’s ok though 6 does not look that cool when showing it to the camera so the Brazilians will have to stick to a high 5 for another 4 years.

Belgium 2 – 1 Brazil

England are moving in the right direction….I think even if they do not win the Cup, the commentary in the English Premier League will be raving about Harry Kane and the team for a couple of months. They secured their spot in the semi-finals by beating Sweden…I wonder what King Zlatan had to say about that.

England 2 – 0 Sweden

The surprise package of the tournament, Russia definitely did not disappoint at this years World Cup. They can hold their heads up high as they fought till the end pushing Croatia to penalties where unfortunately they lost…..I guess that is the lottery. Croatia reaching the semi-finals for the first time since 1998…hmmm could we see France vs Croatia in the final.

Russia 2 (3) – 2 (4) Croatia

At least after the quarter-final round I do not have to change my prediction….

Iceland Colombia England vs Panama, Belgium – 2018 Russia World cup Final(Prediction)

Dreams to Reality

The cards have been dealt, you can either fold or roll the dice and play on….if you not having fun then there is no point, right!!

These two are definitely having fun on their journey together, and they are willing to take us with them……if you have not seen them perform I urge you to check out one of their gigs before they embark on their dream of taking over Europe…..25 000 people screaming for King Julian and Queen Didi, yip this can become a reality.

Last night I ventured into their world, I amazed at the talent…WOW, they brought some friends along before the main act too. Daaaaamn!!!! Each of these artists are able to pull in a crowd of thousands on their own, I am sure. They were super amazing. We need to be supporting local, working together to create a vibe.

Ruby Trutter and her band, with a voice like a diamond she shone brightly and her dream of changing the world through her passion for music is inspiring….keep on dreaming, there is no limit to your possibility.

Cheslyn Cupido, aka Gizmo from Kensington, leka to see people you went to school with showing positive signs, yoh his lyrics hit hard to the core…keep on flowing….There was a question in one of his songs “Where do we begin?” – I say we begin now, each and everyday is a new day to pursue our dreams.

The Blaze Band ZA, these guys can turn a room upside down, they’ve got the right mixture to get the crowd moving, jy wil net dance….you can definitely see they enjoying what they doing.

The evening flowed leka with the MC skills of Kristen aka Lady K Soul on the mic…and the shop had all the right snacks too. Craft Beer (made by Jules) and Popcorn is a thing – watch this space.

Last but not least was the amazingly talented duo of Jules and Didi….

Everything about them works perfectly, they are in sync….Everytime I hear their music I am taken away on a magical carpet ride. I am sure they can make music with anything they find….there was a guitar, violin, drums, that thing with the beans inside, a mouth piano en ek wietie wat noggie but I was amazed. Really if you reading this go and see their show you will not be disappointed.

Catch them on the following dates:

26 July – Mitchells Plain, 18 Wall Street, Portlands 9pm

28 July – Kensington Community Hall 7h30pm

29 July – Kuils river, The Daily coffee cafe (ESK) 4h30pm

I am always thankful when I can help support our local artist, this is where the real magic lives….

Blessings to you all.

Tata ma chance..

There is something about this World Cup that makes me feel like it is different, like Leicester winning the English Premier League this could finally be England’s year after knocking out Colombia on penalties in the final Round of 16 match-up.

Definitely not according to the script, after the dramatic group stages where we saw some intense emotion from fans and players….I thought Argentina were going to run rampant but it was the youngsters of France who came out on-top in a thrilling 7 goal encounter. Argentina almost pushing for a comeback in the end.

France 4 – 3 Argentina

The upsets kept on coming as Uruguay knocked out Portugal on the same day… expected the meme train ran riot after these games, some people depicting Messi and Ronaldo calling each other to wait at the airport.

Uruguay 2 – 1 Portugal

Little did we know that the 2010 World Cup winners would soon join the plane home….both of the next days matches ended with the lottery of Penalties to decide a winner. Penalties are worse than waiting for a VAR decision in my opinion…

Spain 1 (3) – 1 (4) Russia

Croatia 1 (3) – 1 (2) Denmark

The Russian party was still going strong…more vodka please!!

Next up Brazil, first things first where did Neymar buy that dye?….after 3 matches it was out (not really good product placement), let’s see his hairstyle in the Quarter Final because Brazil finally looked like a contentious team against Mexico beating them 2-0.

Brazil 2 – 0 Mexico

Possibly the best game of the tournament so far was Belgium vs Japan, I don’t think anyone expected the Japanese to dominate and go 2-0 up before an amazing comeback where Belgium scored their third goal in extra-time breaking the hearts of the Japanese players. This was nail-biting stuff.

Belgium 3 – 2 Japan

On the last day of the Round of 16 it was Sweden who beat Switzerland and England going to Penalties against Colombia to secure their place in the Quarter Finals……Definitely not your story book ending for most of these teams but still exciting stuff and goals galore.

Sweden 1 – 0 Switzerland

England 1 (4) – 1 (3) Colombia

And again I have to change my prediction…

Iceland Colombia England vs Panama, Belgium – 2018 Russia World cup Final(Prediction)
