I’m sure you know that famous line and what happened afterwards. From the 22 November 2015 you are about to experience this once in a life time opportunity to relive events of Titanic disaster at an exhibition, presented at the V&A Waterfront for the first time in South Africa.

Jack: I’m sorry, you’re not gonna
see your mom again for a long
time, ’cause we’re going to America, full house boys! Wohoo!

Jack: We are the luckiest sons of
bitches in the world, you know
that?

Educational, emotional and appropriate for all ages, Titanic:The Artifact Exhibition will take visitors on a journey through the life of Titanic. The Exhibition has been designed with a focus on the legendary ship’s compelling human stories.

You’ll be able to walk back in time through the history of this iconic ship, certain areas have been created to mimic the rooms of Titanic.

Old Rose : 1,500 people went into the sea when Titanic sank from under us. There were twenty boats floating nearby, and only one came back. One. Six were saved from the
water, myself included. Six, out of 1,500. Afterward, the 700 people left in the boats had nothing to do but wait… wait to die, wait to live, wait for an absolution, which would
never come.

Those attending will find out about the lives of South Africans that were on board Titanic, learn about passengers and crew members, admire a recreated iceberg installed at the exhibition and relive the events of that fatal night.

Says Marius Basson, director of Manic Global and organiser of the event: “Visitors will be drawn back in time to April 1912 when the ship embarked on its maiden voyage. They will receive a replica boarding pass, assume the role of passengers and follow the chronological journey of life on Titanic – from the ships construction, to life on board, the famous sinking and the modern day efforts to recover and conserve the wreakage for future generations”

For the younger generation there will be a  Kiddies activation zone with a Titanic jumping castle to Titanic lego building tables and much more to keep them busy.

Adults in turn can shop at the extensive merchandise shop, sample specially made “White Star” ranges of beer and wines, order a Titanic tea or coffee package and experience an authentic dining experience that recreates what life was like on board the ship in 1912.

Jack: Well, yes, ma’am, I do… I
mean, I got everything I need right here with me. I got air in my lungs, a few blank sheets of paper. I mean, I love waking up in the morning not knowing what’s gonna happen or, who I’m gonna meet, where I’m gonna wind up. Just the
other night I was sleeping under a bridge and now here I am on the grandest ship in the world having champagne with you fine people. I figure life’s a gift and I don’t intend on wasting it. You don’t know what hand you’re gonna get dealt next. You learn to take life as it comes at you… to make each day count.
