After a dreadful start to the tournament a few weeks ago The Springboks managed to silence the critics (not totally) and secured a spot in the bronze medal play-off against Argentina.
Victor Matfield captained South Africa for his final swansong with 127 caps he is a true Springbok legend….
….some might argue we look abit alike (just kidding thats all in my head).
The game was not really anything to talk about, a rather dull affair, 3rd place can be a demotivator I guess – I mean you came so close yet you have to settle for third best.
Argentina had a great World Cup campaign making the semi-finals for a second time, the Rugby Championship has really improved their Rugby.
It was Habana’s missed chance of breaking Lomu’s try record of 15 Rugby World Cup tries which probably sums up the game…
SO NEAR, YET SO FAR
Habana and Lomu both on 15 World Cup tries and Australia’s Drew Mitchell one behind them.
South Africa did however finish the game as winners with a scoreline of 24 – 13 – Argentina scoring a consolation try in the last play of the game.
