Unbeaten run

Twickenham was blessed with blue skies, sunshine and barely a cloud in sight.

What better way to enjoy two of the best teams in the World slug it out in the Rugby World Cup final.

The All Blacks made no changes to the team that beat The Springboks a week ago, hoping their tried and tested formula would get them over the hurdle to become the first team to defend the title.

The first-half was an intense physical battle, both teams putting in some big hits. Australia and New Zealand came into this game on an unbeaten run so whoever won tonight truly deserve the title World Champions.

Carter and Foley were both on point with the boot but it was  Milner-Skudder who broke the try deadlock in the 40th minute after a blunder by the referee clearly missing a forward pass call by the All Blacks. Half-Time score 16 – 3, New Zealand were in the lead.

A brilliant off-load pass by super sub Sonny Bill Wlliams and a superb individual effort by Nonu to score the second try of the night. The score at 21 – 3 it looked like game over for Australia but this is a final and anything can happen. A yellow card in the 53rd minute for Smith gave Australia the silver lining they needed, they took the opportunity with both hands scoring 14 points in 10 minutes to set up an epic close to the final.

This man can do no wrong and with a Man of the Match display stopped the hopes of an Austalian comeback dead in its tracks. A daring drop goal in the 70th minute, 17 – 24 to New Zealand.

Beauden Barret ran the final nail in the coffin to score the 3rd try for New Zealand in the 80th minute, the fans and All Black team were ecstatic, successfully defending their title and winning The Rugby World Cup for the 3rd time.
