New Zealand already securing their place in the final of the Rugby World Cup 2015, it was up to Australia and Argentina to battle it out for the chance to face them.
Fans from all over the world filled Twickenham Stadium, some from far and some could probably have walked to the stadium. Diego Maradona and Prince Harry were also in attendance.
This was Michael Hooper’s 50th cap for Australia, it took hime 3 years, 4 months and 21 days to achieve this – thats 1238 Days!….Australia didn’t have to wait long for their first try in this match though, lock Rob Simmons was Gone in 68 seconds to score the fastest try of Rugby World Cup 2015.
From the kick-off Australia were too strong for their opponents and crossed the try line fours times, Adam-Ashley Cooper becoming the first Australian player to score two career Rugby World Cup hat-tricks.
On a positive note for Argentina, they used every ounce of muscle and sinew for a place in the Final, 10 minutes remaining they were still in with a chance at 15-22.
Argentinian fly-half Sanchez became the highest points scorer with 80 points in the tournament so far but this was not enough to trump the Australians as they kept their unbeaten run at Twickenham and in the World Cup to beat Argentina 29 – 15.
New Zealand and Australia will play in a Rugby World Cup final for the first time next Saturday….Who will lift the trophy? One more hurdle and we’ll find out.
