The stage was set after a short but powerful opening ceremony, it was Kick off time – England vs Fiji to set Twickenham alight.
As expected the Fijians brought the physicality to England with Nikola Matawalu getting the first yellow card of the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
England scored the first points of the match through a penalty. A well worked try by Man of the Match Mike Brown after the first penalty try gave the English fans more reason to cheer.
An awesome solo effort from Nikola Matawalu to end up over the line only for the TMO to correctly cancelling out the try as it was dropped, but minutes later Fiji scored a beauty, with a cross field kick caught by Nemani Nadolo for a try.
First half ended England 15 – Fiji 5
Fiji looked like they were still in the game going into the break only 10 points behind but missed penalty opportunites and lack of dicipline and structure caused them to end up with their hands on their heads at the end of the match.
England added a further 2 tries in the second half providing them with the crucial bonus point – after todays performance, 80 015 fans can sigh a sense of relief seeing the host nation win 33 – 11
