Mexican Fiesta

I’ve watched a couple of Ice Hockey games at Grandwest between local rivals the Penguins and the Storms but this is the big leagues International Ice Hockey right on our doorstep.

image

The Ice Hockey World Championship (IIHF): Division B – Group B, a single round -robin series each team plays each opponent once, the winner of the Championship will be promoted to Division II A.

I wanted to watch the South Africa vs New Zealand game on friday but this was sold out – glad to see we behind our boys :-D…so I opted for my Mexican brothers vs Israel.

Like I said previously this is the big leagues they even brought in reinforcements right around the ring for the hard hits you see in the NHL – The first period saw Israel start off with a bang, their support cheering them on with enthusiasm.

I expected a little more people though but the atmosphere was still electrical – ohhhh and ahhhs with every big hit and shot stopping save. The period ended 1-1.

The second period started just as fierce as the first with Israel coming out with a bang, their keeper stopping a shot with ice cold precision. After 10 minutes you could cut the tension with a knife as the scoreline was still 1-1 but then a nice move in the middle and Mexico made it 2-1. The Mexican fans were uplifted and started chanting ‘mekiko mekiko’ – I guess this worked because they opened the floodgates and ended the period 3-1 with their keeper not really doing any work.

image

The third period just like the first 2 saw Israel start off fast with the Mexican keeper working hard to keep the scoreline as it was but hard work pays off and the crowd went wild as the score went 3-2 when Israel scored.

This was not enough and the Mexican chillies melted the ice adding another 2 goals – 5-2 to Mexico.

image

With 4 minutes left in the match we almost saw some fighting but the referee’s were on point throughout the match to avoid this, Ice Hockey is not for the faint hearted :-D. Israel’s coach must be good at motivating his team because after a quick time-out they scored making it 5-3 with 2 minutes left in the game, edge of your seat stuff.

In the final seconds of the match Israel pushing everyone forward even the goalie and paid the price as Mexico put the final nail in the coffin with an easy no goalie goal to make the final score 6-3 to Mexico.

An exciting match up of International Hockey – always better Live.

A perfect day the sun shining, happy faces gathered to get ready to make this a night to remember, the run started at 18:30 the point is not to win but just to have fun and make new friends. Run, cycle, skate, walk, skip, hop or jump your way around a 5km route at night with glow. The only rule is
“have fun”! – We were at Kenilworth Racecourse I’m sure if there were horses we’d be able to use them too :-D.

We opted to walk the route and take in as much of the beautiful night sky and experience the route to its full potential, with five “Glowpoints” and a waterpoint this was the most fun I had on a 5km route. At each “Glowpoint” music is pumping and an opportunity is taken to glow in the dark walking through neon lights – just before the finish line you are targeted and sprayed with neon coloured paint this was an unexpected turn of events but well worth it :-D.

Once at the end the party began we made it in time to see Mi Casa live these guys know how to get a crowd jiving, Jika my baby ;-). With the Neon Run hosted by 5fm they could not leave behind our crazy uncle South Africa’s own David Guetta this man needs no further introduction Roger GOODEness he has mad energy getting us to do the biggest glow in the dark YMCA, I’m sure a record must’ve been broken hahaha.

Birthday boy Chris Taylor and Jack Skandi took the last set and what an awesome set it was 1h30 minutes of pure adrenaline, with cellphones in the air for Coldplay’s ‘A Sky Full Of Stars’ to another record breaking major bounce by the whole crowd, if you wanted to see a rainbow at night, a top view of the Neon Run concert would be the perfect opportunity.

Mad energy, friendly smiling people, crazy costumes, glowing faces this was definitely a night that will never be forgotten

If Life had no limits I would…

I am 100% responsible for the creation of my financial future and personal destiny.

The Park Inn by Radisson Cape Town, 11th floor the  view is amazing definitely a place to have your success meal one day – this was the venue of the Brick Buy Brick seminar, part of Robert T. Kiyosaki Rich Dad, Poor Dad series.

If you read the book or should be familiar with the name, you would know he is a property investor so the seminar was an introduction into opening our minds to the possibility of tapping into the wealth that is property investing. Using property as a cashflow tool.

What I enjoy about these seminars are that the speakers are engaging and full of energy allowing the audience to visualise a better life for themselves. The opportunity is there to educate yourself and become part of a team behind a highly successful brand – if you surround yourself with greatness will you not be GREAT yourself 😀

The 3 Keys to Success:
1 – Opportunity
2 – Knowledge
3 – MASSIVE Action

I went with a plan to gain insight as I have a curious mind but left with potential knowledge knowing that a shift in your mindset can change your life.

Your brain is your most valuable asset turn it from a R20 asset to a million dollar/pound whatever currency it all starts with YOU – believe in yourself 😉

Ask yourself If life had no limits I would….so get off you ASSet and achieve your dreams 😀

SAYNOPHOBIA

A few years back I remember Xenophobia attacks being rife in Cape Town especially in the townships, people blaming foreign nationals from coming into our country some illegally, taking jobs and living free.

A few days ago Xenophobic attacks flared up in Durban with pictures of a person being burned alive scattered across local media. It is shocking to see such acts of violence in a country where people fought for us all to live free. Are we not all African, are we not proud of our rainbow nation, yes there are foreigners who take advantage of our systems in South Africa but this does not give individuals the right to take the law into their own hands nevermind killing another human being.

I just read an article where people in Durban organised a peace march which ended in mayhem, if you think logically about this how will this filter into an already crippling economy. We are in the middle of loadshedding, rumours of a national blackout, petrol price soaring now this all, these things spread across the world. How is the image of our country to potential tourists and foreign investors who create jobs. People are fighting against other African brothers and sisters for them taking away our jobs instead of creating opportunities for themselves and trying to better there own circumstances.

In contrast, KwaZulu-Natal
Premier Senzo Mchunu said
outside the city hall at the
peace march, “Today is a very
important day, not only in
KwaZulu-Natal, but in South
Africa. Today we made our
stand known throughout the
continent and the world.”

What type of stand are we really making the world see’s chaos and this is scary….

WHEN A MAN LOVES A WOMAN

Percy Sledge US soul singer, the voice of many wedding songs has passed away at age 73.

One of my dads favourite singers, a legend of the 60’s lets take a moment  and slow jam through the ages with Mr Percy Sledge.

MY SPECIAL PRAYER is for you to LOVE ME LIKE YOU MEAN IT that WARM AND TENDER LOVE. LOVE ME TENDER, YOU’VE REALLY GOT A HOLD ON ME – YOU’RE ALL AROUND ME as I write this letter to you my love SITTIN’ ON THE DOCK OF THE BAY, I remember us WALKIN IN THE SUN.

From the beginning I knew I had to TAKE TIME TO KNOW HER, JUST OUT OF REACH if I just got OUT OF LEFT FIELD she would be MY ADORABLE ONE and I would BRING IT ON HOME TO ME.

BABY HELP ME STOP THE WORLD TONIGHT, BEHIND CLOSED DOORS I will TRY A LITTLE TENDERNESS. I will always be honest with you and TELL IT LIKE IT IS.

IT TEARS ME UP for I have turned a WHITER SHADE OF PALE, the light has darkend as I walk to the DARK END OF THE STREET. I know IT’S ALL WRONG BUT ITS ALRIGHT, IF LOVING YOU IS ALL WRONG then WHAT AM I LIVING FOR.

I’VE GOT DREAMS TO REMEMBER as you COVER ME and YOU SEND ME off, COME SOFTLY TO ME and always know THAT I’LL BE YOUR EVERYTHING.

FIRST YOU CRY…then after a SUDDEN STOP you remember….

WHEN A MAN LOVES A WOMAN.

No mud no Glory

Impi! wo ‘nans’ impi iyeza
Obani bengathinta amabhubesi?  – translation: War! O Here Comes War Who Here Can Touch The Lions?

This is how I felt today, a misty morning leaving my house but as the time came closer to the start, a beautiful day the sun rose just like the Lion in my throat as I  roared to life to face my first Impi Challenge 😀

I did not know what to expect, was I prepared for the challenges ahead, but I knew the excitement and adrenaline would carry me through. Seeing all the challengers the excitement was building as the hooter went and we were off….

image

This was our first obstacle hmmmm nothing like a good old mud bath to get the day started :-D.

I loved the comraderie between teams as they helped  each other through the obstacles, seeing that I was alone I aligned myself with whichever team was available to help strategically play the game survivor style ;-).

The obstacles were not that bad as I expected, except for the crawl in the air thing o_O, it was rather exciting and exhilarating  to know that you faced a fear after each challenge from heights to confined spaces it was mind, body and soul tested. The course was the real test I’m sure all Impi finishers will agree those uphills were a killer but we all conquered it with a smile on our faces because with every uphill there is…….MORE UPHILLS o_O

This was really an amazing experience never have I been this muddy and excited about getting even more muddy, the views were awesome, I mean we had all the time in the world to admire it while struggling up those hills. A cheer of “We are almost there” or “Welldone” “You can do it” kept the spirit alive as we challenged through the terrain.

I started the Impi Challenge alone but along the way I became the thorn among these beautiful roses welldone and thank you to these ladies they were awesome.

Today we conquered our fears and can gladly call ourselves…

IMPI WARRIORS.

Who are YOU

“Everything in your life is there as a vehicle for your transformation. Use it!” – Ram Dass

So while browsing facebook I came across this JT Foxx event, to be honest before the event I had no idea who he was just heard about him. I click on the link and sign up thinking yip here is an opportunity to listen/learn and grow.

J.T. Foxx started investing with
nothing more than a rusted out Ford pick-up truck, $974 dollars and 1 cheap suit. Now just 6 years later, he has acquired and sold over 500 properties, closed over $40 million in real estate deals.

E+R = O nope that is not a new smiley that is a mantra Event + Response = Outcome. Your response to a certain event determines the outcome, we all know these events are to sell you something but it is your choice if you take it or not opportunity only comes once unless you make more out of it.

“Change the changeable, accept the unchangeable, and remove yourself from the unacceptable” – Denis Waitley

Before Coach D started speaking he said we should forget what we know, good thing I never knew who JT Foxx was then, he gave us his background story and went through the presentation full of energy, voice booming. Love what you do and you never have to work again – let your money work for you. Most people fail to try than try and fail, these are but a few of the inspirational qoutes thrown about during the presentation.

“Not life, but good life, is to be chiefly valued.” – Socrates

The thing that was different about this event was that it was fun while you learning, opening up your mind to different possibilities, The 8 steps of successful people:
– List your interests
– What are you good at?
– Assess your personality
– Time
– Risk
– Cost
– Take Action
– Learn from people – be       Coachable

The event was on how to create passive income, become a visionary and THINK BIG. We even got a business idea in 5 minutes do with it however you please. Who knew I’d be at the Bay Hotel in Camps Bay next time I’ll be staying the night 😉

“I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free” – Michelangelo

Learning from people who are in positions where you aspire to be is the best way of moving forward tap into the knowledge of the wise. There are many intelligent people out there we just need to be open to the opportunities at hand.

“If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.” – Tony Robbins

Who am I, you ask – I am Shaun Engel here to change the world eating an elephant one bite at a time.

“Do your little bit of good where you are; it’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.” – Desmond Tutu
