Traditions

Luke 2:10 And the angel said to
them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.

It is that time of the year when everybody is happy, families come together around a Christmas tree to spread the festive cheer.

There are many traditions that people practise around Christmas time for us as a family we all gather at my ouma’s place and hand out presents as a family a hour before 12 on Christmas Eve.

It all starts with the Christmas Eve service where you can feel the excitement in the air, as a child in the Moravian Church on Elim you know there is a surprise waiting for you after church :-D. The children participate in the service by singing hymns and reciting passages out of the hymn book but the most exciting part is when the lights are switched off and all the children are singing Moré stér with only the star and candles lighting the church, not even pictures or words can describe that moment.

Matthew 2:10 When they saw the
star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.

Christmas is a time for sharing not only gifts but also experiences and joy of a year that passed, accomplishments achieved, encouragement to carry on if faliure occured but most of all just spending time with your family.

Many of us have our own traditions that we uphold but it all centres around one theme and that is the birth of a king…

Luke 2:14 “Glory to God in the
highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”

I wish you all a blessed Christmas and festive period be safe and enjoy every moment 😀
