Not so long ago this is how the main street of Elim looked, the iconic Kerk Straat, if you squint your eyes just a little you will see the Church – The Moravian Church the centre of this little community. Ek wil gesé dit was donkie jare gelede wane die straate so gelyk dit maar soos jy kan sien is daar ‘n ou op ‘n bicycle en ek wil nie die image van Elim spoil nie want as julle kom kuier sal julle sien hier ry die mense nie met donkies nie dit is perde. Som van ons moet betaal om op ‘n perd té klim hier kan jy net vir een van die ‘Elimeers’ vra en hulle sal vir jou lui na die water waar die Perde wei :-D. Hier is ook ‘n museum waar jy meer kan uitvind oor hierdie sendingstasie jy mag dalk net uitvind dat jou ma se ma se niggie getroud was met Oom Jappie se seun :-D. So kom gerus en besoek hierdie dorpie want daar wag ‘n leka verrassing vir julle….

This is now, after many years the main street has got a facelift, pavements have been put out and  the road tarred. The process is not yet complete but the community of Elim is excited at the prospect that it has become more easily accessible for all. Change is good and it also bring with it new opportunties in upliftment and healthy living conditions for all but one thing is for certain…

..if you squint your eyes just a little you will see that same Church building of years ago and that is what will keep this community going for many more prosperous years to come.
