Just like in the Matrix you have a choice…will it be the Red Tour or the Blue Tour? The choice is yours and no none of them will take you down the Rabbit hole.
So I took the Blue Tour and this is my story, its a Hop on Hop off system so you have the freedom to plan your day. With 14 stops along the route I’d say you spoilt for choice right.
We got on at Kirstenbosch gardens – according to the guide its the 7th greatest garden in the world…do yourself a favour and take a walk inside – Natural Beauty.
First stop is World of Birds & Monkey Jungle in Hout Bay, hop off and take a walk through a bird sancuary just watch out for the poop :-D.
Next stop is the Imizamo Yethu township…for an extra fee you can take a guided walk through the township or visit the original T-Bag Design Community Arts and Crafts Centre. The great thing about this is that the money goes back into the community for development.
*Fun Fact – Two woman from the Imizamo Yethu township started “Isicongo” – on top of mountain, an initiative whereby they challenged themselves to summit all the highest peaks in the world…Power to Woman :-D.
Stop number 3 is Hout Bay…here you can hop off and visit the various “Flea market” stalls to get a gift of Africa. If lucky you will be entertained by the “Kaapse Klopse” or a man feeding the seals. Be sure to pop into Snoekies for some fresh Fish and Chips.
If you look closer you’ll see a castle…and nope it is not mine unfortunately.
Right lets hop back on the bus and continue down the coast through to the playground of the rich and famous…yes u got that right it is Camps Bay with its beautiful icy beach and resturants, a great place to catch a tan or maybe a sundowner.
*Fun qoute – work is for people who can’t surf – while in Cape Town learn to surf we have some good waves for the beginners to the more experienced
Be sure to take your camera with thier are loads of opportunities to take pictures of Table Mountain from all angles.
The trip continues around the peninsula, past Clifton, Sea Point to Green Point where you will see The iconic 2010 World Cup Stadium
Making your way down to the start of the tour at the V&A Waterfront…hop off and explore the various shops and be sure to check out the aquarium, for the adventurous you can swim with the sharks.
The trip continues through the heart of Cape Town, there are stops along the way for you to explore Cape Town by foot be sure to walk through Long Street, where by day it is a great place for a coffee and at night it comes alive with all types of music bustling from the various clubs. Cape Town loves to party.
Once past the bustle of the city the journey continues through District Six….no relation to the movie District 9 though..there are no aliens unless maybe if we talking about alien plants :-D.
Before the journey ends back at Kirstenbosch you will go past Groote Schuur hospital where the first human heart transplant was performed. You will also get a glimpse of South Africa’s own Hogwarts
UCT – in the words of the Madiba – “Education is the most powerful
weapon which you can use to
change the world.”
Finally after 2-3 hours we are back at Kirstenbosch, hope you enjoyed the tour. Please try the Red tour next I’m sure that it will be a whole different experience to see a different side of Cape Town.
